Queensland Youth Orchestras is a world class youth orchestra organisation based in Brisbane, capital of the “Sunshine State” of Queensland, Australia. QYO has 500 musicians in eight orchestras and ensembles:

QYO orchestras perform more than 50 concerts throughout Queensland each year. The leading orchestra, the Queensland Youth Symphony under conductor John Curro AM MBE, has undertaken 11 international tours since 1972.
National Youth Concerto Competition
Congratulations to 11 year old Rachel Siu, winner of the 2009 National Youth Concerto Competition. Finalists were of the highest standard including James Dong in Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto, cellist Adele Xiang with Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme and Rachel playing Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C major.
Early History of Music in Brisbane
Join us from 11am to 12.15pm on Saturday 28 November 2009 at the Old Museum Concert Hall at Bowen Hills to hear Dr Martin Buzacott talk about the musical pioneers of Brisbane, including many who performed in the Old Museum Concert Hall. Music provided by the QYO String Quartet and organist Christopher Wrench.
